The Spring Flower Show is Back in Bloom at The Residency!

Dating from the 1950’s, this much loved heritage event celebrates the beauty and diversity of Central Australia in Spring.

Local gardeners and plant enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to share their beautiful blooms, buds and other botanical delights at this iconic Alice Springs annual event.

Categories include: roses, bulbs, Australian native flowers, floral art, pot plants and bonsai. There are junior sections too including miniature gardens, arrangement in an unusual container and paddy melon animal.

The Spring Flower Show, in its current format, was initiated by The McDouall Stuart Branch of the National Trust in 1953 in dedication to the ‘CWA women of Alice Springs & District who featured prominently in women’s activities up until the early 1970’s’. The CWA held their last flower show in Alice Springs in 1969.

Between 1995 and 2003 the event was managed by Margaret Baker and it was held at the old Hartley Street School. When Heritage Alice Springs was formed in 2003 we took over management of the event to ensure its continuation and the Spring Flower Show has been a key event at The Residency ever since.

The Flower Show will be opened by our patron Jose Petrick OAM and Sue Ride OAM as Official Judge.

Local artist Carol Adams will launch an exhibition of recent works ‘Theme and Variations’ in conjunction with the opening of the Flower Show.

This year, we are pleased to welcome the CWA, to serve Devonshire Teas and sell other goodies from the kitchen.
