The Residency Arts Program is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by local artist Jennifer Taylor, depicting landscapes and skyscapes that evoke a sense of place and honor the traditional custodians.
In a review of Taylor’s 2015 exhibition Paintings from Arrernte country and Aotearoa, Sascha Grishin remarks that her works ‘… are conceived of not only as records of place, but also as cultural artefacts. In a sense, Taylor’s paintings reference the people who live there and the cultural traditions inscribed in the land. Although moody and atmospheric, her paintings are also multilayered accounts of history, memory and country.’
Jennifer is the inaugural recipient of Arts NT’s Creative in Residence program at the Araluen Arts Centre.
Exhibition dates 26th February – 11th April
